Nicola Kelly / Rebecca Spooner

The second exhibition in the season develops the idea of a nostalgia for the natural. Rebecca Spooner’s installations incorporate the filmed and photographed from various points in history and with a sympathy for a particularly British sense of the natural landscape, its wildlife and histories, and their place in our affections. There is a melancholic longing often associated with old photographs or damaged cine-film, and it animates her installations to surprising effect. Alongside are works by Nicola Kelly, for whom the ‘found’ photograph is often a starting point in a process resulting in pieces imbued with the emotive.
