Out of Line : Drawings from the Arts Council Collection
15 Dec - 26 Jan 2002
Drawings are often considered to be an artist’s most intimate works. traditionally associated with the earliest development of artistic ideas, drawings serve as a means for remembering fragments of the visual world, or for structuring more abstract ideas. They can also be independent works of art where choice of materials and process are an integral part of their meaning. For many artists working today, drawing is an important part of a multi-layered practice whose sources range from the vernacular of the comic-strip or the 1970s record cover, to pattern-making, top-ten hit lists and the diaristic.
