Samantha Clark / Nick Cobb
22 Mar - 12 Apr 2008
Gallery 6
The season ends with two very different uses of film. Nick Cobb’s street photography demonstrates the subtle and enduring multilayered nature of the medium. His photographs are of sculptural dioramas which carefully re-create the ‘high street’. Photographs used to make sculpture which in turn are the subject for photographs. The works have a colourful gentle humour which underlies the way we, mistakenly at times, might look for the human in every photograph. As a counterpoint to these the exhibition includes film work by Samantha Clark. Her short films are made in such a way as to draw our attention to the ‘un-filmable’ constructs of language and science, each a meditation of the provisional nature of reality.
