SMALL TALK, HIGH HEELS

Represented by a series of characteristically forceful works, Cardiff-based Sue Williams is currently short-listed for the £40,000 Artes Mundi Prize. Taking the intricacies of our relationships as a starting point, her efforts to address the human condition have resulted in a uniquely unusual and striking body of paintings and drawings. This compelling work confronts the viewer with key questions about the personal and the political, the individual and the ideological, and about where we find ourselves in today’s celebrity culture.
