The first season of exhibitions in Oriel Mostyn’s new gallery starts with an appreciation of first principles. It looks at the fundamental link between artists and the very particular, idiosyncratic, visual worlds that they create, for themselves and the viewer, with the human archetype as both subject and point of departure. It demonstrates how the visually complex arises from surprising combinations of the outwardly simple: less an art of the everyday and more an art of the everyman.
