Z Lab 2001
14 Jul - 01 Sep 2001
Z Lab is the fictitious research centre of Paul Granjon’s company Z Productions, specialising in low technology applied to electronic arts. Through technical expertise and a sense of playfulness his work makes accessible serious issues concerning science and progress in contemporary sculpture. In Z Lab 2001, Granjon’s first solo exhibition in the UK, the latest peojects developed in the Z Lab are revealed. These include an automated forest complete with electronic birds and glow worms, and a cyber rabbit which stands on self’watering real grass on a shelf in the gallery, saying “Robot Rabbit” endlessly. The counter displaying the number of times Robot Rabbit has repeated its own name should reach the one million mark during its appearance at Oriel Mostyn.
A Chapter exhibition.
